Advancing justice for women and girls and promoting their spiritual growth. |
“… supporting bold, innovative projects that affect positive social change in the lives of women and girls… and supporting initiatives that challenge the root causes and the consequences of gender oppression.”
– Grants Panel Mission Statement
Grants are made to Unitarian Universalist congregations, organizations, or groups. The program welcomes proposals addressing a wide range of issues consistent with UU principles and which prioritize the achievement of social justice for those who identify as women.
Areas for consideration include, but are not limited to: education; women’s health; abortion/reproductive rights; age discrimination; war; human rights; poverty; unemployment; Bisexual/Gay/Lesbian/Queer concerns; Transgender concerns; gender justice; domestic violence; child abuse; and job discrimination.
See a list of previously funded projects.
Grants are generally not given for equipment or supplies. As a goal of this program is stimulating new social justice initiatives, grants are not made for projects that are already a part of the ongoing work of an organization. Grant recipients are expected to make progress reports as requested and complete their projects within two years of receiving the grant funds. If a project is abandoned before completion, grant funds must be returned to UUWF.
Awards range from $2,000 to $5,000.
There are four deadlines each year and applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis.
Deadlines are February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1.
