Universalist Clara Barton, one of our most famous foremothers, was a distinguished leader of her day. Noted for organizing nursing services and supplies for soldiers during the Civil War, she was also founder of the American Red Cross and was actively involved in that organization until she was well into her 80s.
In order to both honor her example and celebrate today’s women, UUWF created and maintains the Clara Barton Sisterhood. With a donation of $80 to UUWF, a congregation, an individual, or a women’s group can honor a UU woman who is 80 or older and whose life and work you wish to recognize. |
